Task 1
Lecture
week 1
In the new semester, Mr.Viond asked us to watch lecture1 videos in
class. In the video, I learned about typographic systems. The first is the classification of typographic systems. typographic systems are divided into eight categories:AXIAL, RADIAL, DILATIONAL, RANDOM, GRID, MODULAR, TRANSITIONAL,
BILATERAL. These eight systems are very important because all design is based on
these eight systems.
- AXIAL
The elements are arranged on one or both sides of the axis. This is the
most basic system in my opinion.
- RADIAL
- AXIAL
- RADIAL
All elements are arranged from a point towards the trend of the line
that runs through the point. (Similar to the number arrangement on
a clock.)
All elements are arranged from a point towards the trend of the line
that runs through the point. (Similar to the number arrangement on
a clock.)
- DILATIONAL
Like concentric circles, the elements are arranged around concentric
circles.
- RANDOM
Elements are arranged randomly on the page.
- GRID
Elements are arranged in a grid according to different information, and
factors such as size create emphasis and hierarchy.
-
TRANSITIONAL
The elements can be distributed in a band, and the importance of
different information can be indicated through fonts and other
ways.
- MODULAR
The size of the module needs to be the same size, and it is best to use
the same arrangement method for the elements in the module, which can look
more neat and beautiful, and also facilitate later adjustment.
- BILATERAL
All elements need to be on the same axis of symmetry and symmetrical
arrangement on both sides, which is more suitable for invitation cards or
formal invitations. In order to make the design more flexible, you can
make changes in the font.
week 2
Typographic composition
Principle of composition:emphasis, isolation, repetition, symmetry,
asymmetry, alignment, perspective.
Introduction
Task 1
Research
- Axial
I did some searching on the Internet and I saw some designs that I wanted
to use in my design.

Feedback
1 Axial:A line of symmetry should not start from a diagonal Angle. 2 Dilational: The outermost font should be changed. 3 grid and random are not representative enough. ALL FONTS SIZE SHOULD BE 8-12.
Reflection
Experience:
In this study, we first learned several basic systems of typesetting
design, and applied these systems in our own design works, so that we
can more clearly feel the changes and innovations the system brings to
the works.
observation:
When doing exercises with Mr. Vionds, I always tend to overlook and
don't understand clearly how the grid system and module system operate,
which leads me to some confusion about these two contents.
finding:
I found that in the process of designing works, we need to connect all
the systems and operations to create better design works. And clearly
understanding the concept of design system can make the work more
organized.
Further reading
