TASK 3
RESEARCH
Structure, stroke and detail are the three visual elements of font design.
There are many forms of font expression, and every graphic designer must
carefully consider the visual expression of the text and personalize it. In
the font design, we call the font structure "bone", the font stroke "meat",
the font expression "blood", a good font must be "bone, blood, meat" three
through one, so that it has shape.

During the week, Mr.Vionds asked us to paint with five different markers, and
I chose four of them.
Freehand painting(29/5/2023)
When I use these markers, I think the STANDARD BROAD feel is better for
me, and I prefer the pen that can make changes in thickness. So for the rest
of the drawing, I used STANDARD BROAD.

I picked one of the lines and started to finish.

I first did a complete imitation of these letters, completely restoring them
one-to-one in Ai.

But in the course of the class, Mr Vionds wants us to look for fonts first,
and then improve on our own fonts. I found a font in my favorite style on
the website he gave, and I combined it with my own handwriting to make a new
font.

And then I made all the fonts.

After the class, Mr. Viond told me that my font should use the same line
segment and that the letter G needed to be improved. I revised my
question.

FEEDBACK
week 8: Please select the writing style and and practice writing
in that style.
week 9 general feedback: Choose one of the writing styles and
proceed.
eek 10 general feedback:The line thickness of each letter needs to
be consistent.
week 11 general feedback:Using the same lines as much as possible
will make the fonts more similar.
REFLECTION
Experience
In this homework, I have done some understanding first, I can find
that the English alphabet and Chinese characters are two completely
different things. Chinese characters pay attention to horizontal,
vertical, square and square characters. But the English alphabet uses
more rounded elements. So when I used markers to write by hand at
first, I couldn't write them very well. When using AI to make letters,
I did not do some of the rounded parts well, but I modified them
later.
Observation
I carefully observed the difference in font changes from the beginning
to the end of my work. At the beginning, I did not clearly realize
that some radian fonts needed to be very round and were based on the
letter O, so I did not make enough radian of those letters, which made
the letters shrivelled. And in the process of doing this, I found that
my fonts did not better reflect a certain style, which is a very
regrettable thing for me.
Finding
In the process of learning, I should be more aware of some problems
caused by cultural differences, and I should do a better job to avoid
these problems. I didn't do a good job of saying that I could
understand some of the design principles used in the design of
letters, but I didn't say that all of those principles applied to my
typeface.
